News

Newsletters are starting to come in hard copy form starting November1st.  I will still use this site to keep you updated also. The newsletter was sent home today for the week.  Report cards go home this week also.  I will need 3 volunteers from each class to bring choc. chip cookies into school for a science experiment for Weds.  I need a chips shoy brand, a dollar general brand and a cheap brand of some sort.  Thanks in advance.....

news 10-18-10

Math
This week in math we will be focusing on Divisibility rules, greatest common factors, prime and composite numbers and prime factors.Homework:

Homework will be given Mon-Thurs from off the board. Students will copy it into their math journals to take home and complete.
Students also have a math project due back to me on Oct. 28th. They have received the information. Also we have a field trip this Friday Oct. 22nd to the Asheboro Zoo. Please send all money by Oct 18th....

Science
This week we are studying rocks and minerals and how they are formed, properties of rocks, the rock cycle and hardness tests. We will also be building on vocabulary.
Homework will be given on Tuesday and Thursday in the form of a lab activity and observation sheet.

 We will be working on a couple of labs this week. One to test the hardness of rocks using Moh's scale of hardness and also one with flames and forces of nature......

Week 7 Newsletter

This week in Math we will revisit how to solve equations and expressions.  We will then retest on the matter on Weds.  We will then be moving into decimals how to add/subtract/multiply and divide them.  Homework will be given Monday, Tuesday and Thursday only.

In Science we will finish our test on the solar system Monday and also launch off any more rockets.  Kids have til the end of this week to bring in their projects before they become a zero. Also moon papers are past due and will result in a zero if not turned in by Monday.  We will be starting on rocks and minerals next on Tuesday.  We will be discovering the properties and how to tell a rock from a mineral.  Homework will be given Monday and Thursday only.
Field trip money is due before Oct 18th.  please make sure to mark your calendars.  We are in need of chaperones for the trip.  Please be aware that you will have to drive your car there and back and only 15 parents will get in for free on a first come first served basis.  after 15 everyone else must pay to get in.  Please let me know ASAP if you want to go.  I have about 5 spots left open....

OConnor Week 6 News

This week we are focusing on Algebra in Math and revisiting equations and how to solve them as well as the properties of addition and multiplication.  Homework will be given on a daily basis Tues-Thurs.  Test Thursday!



In Science, the moon papers are now due to be turned in and the project is Due the 8th of this month.  Please make sure to get it in on time.  We are still working on Space Exploration this week and will finish up with that and have a test Friday.

Math Extra Credit Question

Construct for me, using microsoft paint, word, or another program that is similar, a digital poster design of your own that depicts the order of operations.   Must have pics and steps.

Newsletter week 5

Math-  We will  be working on expressions and equations this week.  We also will be going back over to reviewing place value, order of operations, and exponents.  Homework will be given on daily basis M-Th.

Science- Projects Due Oct 8th- Moon papers due this week.  We are going to be studying the Apollo flights to space, NASA, space careers and earth.  This is going to be our final week of space and we will be having a test Friday.  Homework is to finish the project and moon papers.

Progress reports go out this week also.

O'Connor's Week 4 Newsletter

This week I will only be posting Math and Science as since we have the new teacher and we are starting to switch classes I will only be teaching the 2 subjects.  Lang Arts and Social Studies will come from the new teacher her way.

Math-
We will be learning about Equations and how to solve them, expressions and still working on the order of operations, adding and subtracting decimals and problem solving skills.  We will have a test Friday on this info and homework will be given daily except for Friday.

Science- We will be conducting an experiment for science this week and also still be working on the solar system.  We will have a test in Science this week around Weds.  The new kids will not take the test.  Kids should still be working on their projects and moon papers given this past week.

Language Arts- We are continuing on with the Bridge to Teribithia story chapters 5-9.
We will be working on Character trading cards this week found at

We will also be working on reading comprehension, grammar and punctuation.
